IceBall Fright Night Brew

Every Halloween party needs a little magic in the glass, and this one comes with its own special effects!

Meet the Iceball Fright Night Brew: a gorgeous ruby-red cocktail made with fresh cherry juice, pomegranate, a splash of citrus, vodka and a little Italian flair from Limoncello and Triple Sec.

But the real showstopper? Edible silver shimmer that swirls through the drink like a little Halloween magic. I also added blue butterfly pea tea, picked up on a trip to Thailand. I had originally purchased it for desserts, but thought it would be fun to experiment with it in this cocktail. The tea adds a subtle botanical note and, depending on how much you use, can lighten the colour and give that silver shimmer somewhere to show off.

Finish it with a splash of Prosecco for bubbles, and you've got a Halloween brew that's equal parts spooky, pretty and dangerously easy to enjoy.

Did You Know?

Butterfly pea flowers are naturally deep blue and are often used in teas and desserts throughout Southeast Asia. Here's the fun part: add an acidic ingredient like lime juice and the colour can shift from blue toward purple or pink.

It's a natural colour-changing party trick! The tea itself has a mild, earthy flavour, so it adds more visual interest than sweetness.

And edible silver lustre? That's what gives this cocktail its magical swirling effect. Just make sure you use food-grade, edible shimmer specifically labelled for consumption.

What I Like About This Recipe

I love a cocktail that starts a conversation, and this one certainly does.

The fresh cherry and pomegranate juices give it a beautiful fruit-forward flavour without relying on sugary cocktail mixes. The Limoncello and Triple Sec bring citrus notes, while the vodka gives it a little extra kick. Prosecco adds the bubbles that make everything feel like a celebration.

(Alcohol is optional - Try as non-alcoholic drink)

But honestly, it's the silver shimmer that steals the show. Every glass looks a little different as the silver dances through the drink.

It's easy to mix ahead, looks spectacular in a punch bowl or pitcher, and is just the thing for a Halloween gathering.
