Hickory & Maple Chicken Wraps

The Wrap With a UNESCO Pedigree

This flatbread has its own spot on a UNESCO heritage list. Tonight it’s wrapped around smoky, maple-kissed chicken.

Armenia’s traditional thin flatbread was inscribed in 2014 on UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Bakers stretch the dough over a special oval cushion and slap it against the wall of a conical clay oven, then pull it off after thirty seconds to a minute. It even has a wedding role, where it is placed on the shoulders of newlyweds to bring fertility and prosperity.

You won’t need a clay oven. You’ll need one skillet, two seasonings, and about 35 minutes.

Juicy chicken thighs pick up smoky-sweet depth from Hickory & Maple seasoning, then cook down with red onion, sweet peppers and tomato. Off the heat, a creamy Garden Vegetable sauce gets added to wrap, turning the filling silky and herb-flecked. Roll it up, toast it golden in the skillet, and slice it open to show off all that colour.

Did You Know?

Chicken thighs are a protein powerhouse: raw thigh meat provides roughly 20g of protein per 100g . The tomato is pulling its weight too. Your body absorbs more lycopene from cooked tomato products than from raw tomatoes and eating tomatoes with a little fat improves absorption further.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

Smoky, sweet and creamy in every bite. Hickory and Maple brings the depth, and the Garden Vegetable sauce brings the cool, herby finish.

The sauce is your call. Greek yogurt for a lighter, protein-rich version, sour cream for classic dip flavour, or half mayo for the full indulgent one.

That toasted, crispy outside. A minute in the skillet turns a soft wrap into something golden and crunchy.

It’s a hand-held dinner. Serve it with a leafy green salad and dinner is done.

Food With Benefits

Chicken thighs give you satisfying protein with a little more richness than breast meat, which keeps them juicy in a quick stir-fry. Red onion, sweet peppers and tomato add fibre, colour and naturally occurring plant compounds, while olive oil provides mostly monounsaturated fat. Choose a whole-grain wrap and you can more than double the fibre in every serving.
